Crystal III - The Skull Dungeon

The Skull Woods is the first dungeon in A Link to the Past, but not the series, to be both indoors and outside.  While our outside stints are short, it is neat that the outside is included.  Getting into this dungeon is relatively easy...one must simply enter the Dark World from the western side of Kakariko (you are given this hint by several villagers, who have talked about warning their children from playing there because they disappeared when they did and were never seen again.  Well, we can play there and we'll be back!)   The Skull Woods is our first real maze, and is our first dungeon where we have to think about where we are.  You're also not allowed to go into the boss' half of the lair without the Fire Rod, which I personally believe to be a fairly useless item (it's only really good in the Ice Palace and against two bosses).

Mothula
The boss of the skull woods is Mothula, a disgusting moth thing.  All it really does is fly randomly around and shoot energy at you, but this is one of the hardest boss fights of the game.  Why?  You're surrounded by spike traps, and they randomly shoot at you while Mothula randomly flies around the room.  The only way to easily win this fight is to fire the Fire Rod at this monstrosity several times over and hope your magic doesn't run out, because the Master Sword isn't nearly as effective a weapon.

Crystal III
After defeating Mothula, you free the third maiden and she tells more about the history of Hyrule, Ganon and all of that stuff regarding the Great Cataclysm.  This one flat out tells you that if you don't defeat Ganon, no one else can.  Well, that's not stressful!  Now that we know more about our destiny and the history of Hyrule (it's starting to look like Hyrule created some irony in of itself when it sealed Ganon away) we're headed to Kakariko Village to find the fourth crystal.
