For those of you who just happened upon this blog or found it, what have you; this is my opportunity to explain to you all that is going on. A few months ago, I had a thought to myself: what would it be like to complete every canon Zelda title in the series (in release order) and perhaps write a blog about Link's many adventures through the land of Hyrule. After a few purchases and waiting for shipments and such, I now have all of the materials required to formulate this dream into something cohesive. And so as I go, I shall post my thoughts as I guide Link through Hyrule about the game itself, and perhaps Link will make a few comments as well. You know, he never gets to speak except for "Come on!" in one title.
This all being said, this is a massive project: however, it is my hopes that by the time I am at least half-way through the series, the newest edition to the series will be polished and released to North America, so I suppose this is also a way to bide my time while I wait for Skyward Sword, which upon release will be added to the list of adventures that I will complete in this venture. My sincerest hopes are that this will be a project of fun, and a project in which I can revisit old games in a new light.
A few comments first, though: Zelda has long been one of my favorite series in the video game genre. As a matter of fact, it just may be the favorite. While there are other titles I enjoy; Zelda is the only series title which I own virtually all of its titles for and find all of them at the very least, entertaining (some of them are slightly irritating and I do have my favorites; but they all have a charm and playability.) The series has a certain nostalgic quality to it that just plain makes it endearing: never have I heard a player (though I'm sure they are out there) view the Zelda series in an overly negative manner. It really does have a universal charisma. There's something about the young hero who starts with next to nothing (if you think, all Zelda titles start with your hero having nothing more than a pathetic sword, IF that) and the protagonist, who is different yet recognizably similar in all titles to avoid boredom, must struggle to gain that which he needs to fulfill his quest...which leads him to figure his true quest, which leads to more struggle. Seemingly all of the Zelda titles fit this earnest kind of role-play, which makes them fun and endearing.
I suppose enough is enough out of me, most of you who are taking the time to read this know all about the series.
